Located in the heart of Reykjavík, Fiskmarkaðurinn (The Fish Market) is a leading Icelandic fine-dining restaurant celebrated for its innovative approach to seafood. Since 2007, the restaurant has combined exceptional Icelandic fish and local ingredients with refined global influences.
Alongside fresh cod, Arctic char, langoustine, and shellfish from pristine Icelandic waters, the menu also features carefully selected high-quality meats and creative vegetarian dishes, prepared with the same attention to detail and seasonal focus. Hrefna Rósa Sætran doesn’t just run restaurants—she creates experiences. As one of Iceland’s leading culinary entrepreneurs, TV personality, cookbook author, and recipient of Iceland’s Order of the Falcon, she is celebrated for her pioneering contribution to Icelandic gastronomy and for transforming Reykjavík’s dining scene with her bold fusion of Icelandic ingredients and Asian-inspired flavors.
Her journey has taken her from London to New York and the Icelandic National Culinary Team, shaping a style that is both refined and unexpectedly creative. Today, Hrefna brings that vision to life across Fiskmarkaðurinn, Uppi, and Skúli Craft Bar, crafting everything from unforgettable dining experiences to exclusive full-venue events designed to leave a lasting impression.

NICK ANDREW TORRES
Head chef
Nick, head chef and co-owner of Fishmarket Restaurant, started out in the very same kitchen he now runs—learning the ropes and falling in love with seafood and sushi along the way.
Craving adventure, he packed his knives and headed to London, where he spent seven years working in top restaurants like Zuma, mastering his craft and diving deep into the world of Japanese cuisine.
Now back home, Nick brings that global flair to Fishmarket— serving up seriously good food, leading the kitchen with energy and creativity, and keeping the sushi game strong.
MEET THE TEAM KOSTAS SPILIOPOULOS
Kostas, our Food & Beverage Manager, comes from Greece and brings a thoughtful approach to both wine and hospitality. He looks after the day-to-day rhythm of the restaurant and curates a wine selection he genuinely enjoys sharing.
More often than not, you’ll spot him on the floor, keeping a close eye on things and helping guests discover something they didn’t know they were in the mood for.
